Books That Help Deal with Stress, Anxiety, and Feeling Overwhelmed

Updated: Apr 3, 2022

As a psychologist, I spend outside of session trying to keep up with the newest research regarding mental health and also looking into books that may be helpful to my clients. A lot of times I will learn of a new book after a client reads it or a colleague suggests it for a certain client. One of the most common questions I get from clients, friends, family and people I meet is “what are some good books I can read to help with…” To help those that are searching for more information and also some helpful tools to help them, I am going to create lists for the main concerns that come to see me for. It is always great to be able to see a mental health professional but sometimes that may not be possible or maybe you are not ready to make that step. Books are a valuables tool to increase help you learn new coping skills, better understand what you are going through and hopefully help decrease some level of your distress.

With all that is currently going on around the world with COVID-19, the war in Ukraine, inflation and the ripple effects of these events, my first list if going to focus on stress, anxiety and feeling overwhelmed. Below is a list of 10 books for you to explore. Read the summaries and reviews to see which ones may be the best fit for you. I have also provided I link for each book to Amazon.
